Creating the Perfect Spring Wedding

Spring is a magical time, especially in Boston. Now that we can say goodbye to the bitter cold and slip into lighter, vibrant clothing. Couples often choose to get married in the spring as the weather is warmer, the flowers are blooming and we aren’t exhausted by heat waves. Let’s explore ways to create a picture-perfect wedding. Don’t forget, if you need a photographer for your Boston wedding, contact Nikki Cole at 617.846.3314. Go Green It’s the spring! Enjoy the outdoors, have a night under the starts or set up a whimsical tent in a field. Incorporating natural elements such as wood and stone for your table setting is soothing. Adding some green elements also creates a beautiful “undone” style. Rustic Themed The barn themed wedding has certainly been trending in recent years, particularly in the spring. Whether you’re using an older barn filled with original architecture or a newly built barn, a rustic themed wedding is filled with charm. Outdoor Wedding With flowers in bloom, spring is the perfect time to have a wedding in Boston. Celebrate your wedding at a park, vineyard, ranch or garden. Explore the outdoors as the scenery will add a natural elegance to your […]

The Benefits of an Engagement Shoot

The engagement period in a couple’s life can be a beautiful, memorable time that should be captured gracefully through the lens of a professional photographer. The difference between your wedding photos and engagement photos is that your wedding is celebrated with your family and friends, but an engagement shoot is all about the two of you. There are great reasons on why you shouldn’t pass up the occasion for having a pre-wedding photoshoot! Having an engagement photoshoot is the perfect way to practice for the big day! An engagement shoot can help lighten your discomfort if you sometimes feel awkward with professional photography. You’ll have a chance to look at your photos and discover if there are certain looks you love or want to avoid.  It’s also a great opportunity to build confidence and comfort in front of the camera. By the time your wedding day comes, you’ll learn to stop focusing on the camera and more on each other. One of the many advantages of having an engagement shoot is the comfortable rapport you will develop with your photographer. The engagement shoot is a slower, more deliberate session since the timeline is not as crucial.  It gives you time […]

Mollie and Dan – Brae Burn Country Club, Newton, Massachusetts

Mollie and Dan’s wedding day was just gorgeous!  It was a perfect summer day for them.  We started getting ready right at Brae Burn Country Club which is where the ceremony and celebration took place.  The property has a huge, gorgeous tree just steps from the porch where their first look and ceremony were.  It was a beautiful spot for all our formals.  And to my glee, it was completely transformed in the evening for the perfect night shot.  Guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the outside deck and moved into the lovely ballroom made even more gorgeous by the styling of my good friends at Jeri Solomon Floral Design.  Take a look at some of my favorite images from the day.   I absolutely love the color of the bridesmaid’s dresses!  They are a perfect option for an elegant, summer wedding. Check out that amazing, big tree!  And I’m obsessed with their flowers.  Thanks Jeri! Mollie got a little emotional during the ceremony and I think it surprised her.  It made for some great moments. Dan was the big dancer in the couple.  He was a blast on the dance floor! Don’t forget to check out the full slide show! […]

Marie and Mina – Boston Harbor Hotel, Boston, Massachusetts

There are so many things I loved about Marie and Mina’s wedding!  I won’t be able to cover them all.  But, I’m going to do my best.  First, let’s start with the amazing couple.  I have to say I was a little intimidated when I learned they are both Neurosurgeons!  I wasn’t sure I could keep up with all that brain power.  But, Marie and Mina are all about having a good time.  Smart and fun.  It doesn’t get better than that.  I also got to work with my wonderful friend and amazing event planner Nicole Simeral.  It’s a real treat knowing your event is absolutely going to be gorgeous and will run smoothly.  It allows me to concentrate on actually taking photos!  Nicole didn’t disappoint.  The Wharf Room at the Boston Harbor Hotel was decked out in brilliant yellow and green with a mixture of long and round dining tables and a fabulous black dance floor.  True to their roots, Marie and Mina decided to name each table after a part of the brain.  And I have no words for their place card table.  You’ll just have to take a look!  Here are some of my favorite photos from […]

Laura and Jon – Wellesley Country Club, Massachusetts

Laura and Jon’s wedding was a total treat for me!  Not only are they a fabulous couple, but they also have excellent tasted in bands.  With Kahootz as the band, this wedding was a Cole Family operation.  And it was a blast!  We started out with the sweetest first look on the grounds of BC.  Laura and Jon’s faces were filled with excitement and the first look was just priceless.  The ceremony was at the beautiful Saint Ignatius Church at BC.  And then we were off to party at the Wellesley Country Club.  I haven’t seen a dance party like this in a long time.  Thanks to Kahootz!  Here are some of my favorite images from the day.   Getting ready was a very special time filled with happy tears and lots of laughter. We found a great, secluded little spot on the BC grounds for their first look.  It was a perfect, shaded landing in the middle of an outdoor set of stairs.  Laura and Jon were so thrilled to see each other. Formals were split between the BC grounds and the Wellesley  Country Club after the ceremony.  The country club added a great alternative to the manicured BC […]

Caitlin and David – Royal Sonesta, Cambridge

The story of how Caitlin and David met is super cute.  And it popped up throughout their wedding day.  Caitlin and David met while playing kickball in their local WAKA kickball league.  The league plays in the field at the Esplanade.  David also proposed on the Esplanade.  So it was perfectly fitting that they chose the Royal Sonesta to host their wedding day.  It has an amazing view of the very spot where their courtship and marriage started.  From the ceremony to the first dance, wedding guests overlooked the spot where Caitlin and David met.  Friends from their kickball league were there to witness the event.  And instead of tossing her bouquet, she tossed a WAKA kickball.  It was perfect!  Here are some of my favorite images from the day.   Caitlin and David got ready right at the Sonesta.  Caitlin bounced from quiet nerves to excited giggles and it was a blast catching her range of emotions. The ceremony was also right on site.  For guests it was all about that view!  But I couldn’t help but see the sweet glances Caitlin and David shared.  It was just beautiful.  We had a gorgeous looking day for formals.  But I […]

Katie + Anthony’s Fabulous DIY Wedding

Katie and Anthony’s wedding was just a blast to shoot!  It was full of special DIY touches.  You see, Katie (on top of being a fabulous dancer and choreographer) owns a wonderful business that creates beautiful paper flowers and other paper items for special events.  Please check her out for at www.katherineelizabethevents.com your next event!  Her wedding day was a fabulous opportunity to show her talent and artistry.  The celebration was held at Melrose Memorial Hall in a great old theater which added its’ own artistic flair.  Combine all that beauty and character with a beautiful couple (totally head over heals for each other) with a really fun group of friends and family, and you’ve got a photographer’s dream wedding!  Thanks for the wonderful night!
