2015 Year In Review

Happy New Year! 2015 Has been a fun and wild ride with some fantastic clients and new opportunities. I’ve had the honor of documenting some truly unique weddings in gorgeous locations in the heart of the city, on islands, in private homes and in barns. The celebrations have ranged from elegant ballroom parties to easy clambakes with lawn games. As a professional, I’ve grown in many ways this year. I started the year with a complete re-brand including a brand new website. I explored new tools to improve my craft including external lighting for receptions and evening photos. But with all these great changes, I never changed my focus. When it comes to shooting weddings, I will always consider myself a story teller first. Below, are some of my favorite moments captured at the weddings I photographed in 2015. There were so many wonderful memories to choose from. Alexandra and Louie’s Autumn, Red Lion Inn Wedding

Alex and Louie are one of the most lovely couples I’ve ever met. I can’t get over how utterly taken they are with each other. I knew at our engagement session that they were going to be a blast on their wedding day. They had a picture perfect day at the Red Lion Inn in Cohassett. Alex got ready in RLI’s Salon du Soleil among beautiful chandeliers and some great light. The light pinks and yellows of Alex’s decor were a perfect foil for the Fall foliage while the branch in Alex’s bouquet and the pumpkin place cards were a perfect homage to the season. We had their first look under one RLI’s covered bridges and it was one of the sweetest first looks I’ve ever seen. Just check out the look on Louie’s face. It was priceless. The grounds were popping with great foliage and greenery for formal photos. And the barn was gorgeously lit with pin lighting and candles. Alexandra and Tim’s Romantic Estate Wedding

I just love how Alexandra and Tim created their wedding theme. Everywhere you looked, there was a reminder of two things they love. The two share a globe collection and Alexandra is an avid (to say the least) reader. So naturally, their decor and centerpieces were all composed of globes and books. And the best part is all of the books came from Alexandra’s own collection! Apparently, it was just a small sample of her collection. Girlfriend likes to read! They also had one of my all time favorite place card ideas. Each place card was on a library card and they were all filed away in a card catalog. It tied into their theme perfectly! The wedding day was a gorgeous fall day at the Harding Allen Estate. The couple got ready right at the estate and had their ceremony in the outdoor garden. There was no lack of gorgeous background for the formal photos all around the property. And guests finished the celebration in the estate ballroom where Tim’s friends (including some band members of Tim’s) showed their rock and roll roots on the dance floor. It was a great party! Kate and John’s Boston Harbor Hotel Wedding

For those of you who have followed my blog, you’ll know how much of a sucker I am for a close family and a great story. Safe to say, I’m in love with Kate and John. Their wedding at the Boston Harbor Hotel could not have been more fun and gorgeous to photograph. The champagne colored bridesmaids dresses were elegant. The flowers (oh my god, can you say white dahlias?) all in cream were fabulous. But beyond that, they’re truly special people with amazing friends and family. You won’t be able to miss Kate’s spectacular smile in every single photo. That smile is completely genuine. And she’s not stingy with it. I have no doubt that smile and warmth is exactly what made John fall in love with her. Kate and John both have wonderful and close knit families. Kate made sure we went out of our way to have formal photos in Post Office Square as a nod to her father who actually designed the park. Kristyn and Tom’s Cape Wedding at Wequassett Resort

It’s that time of year when the weather can be just perfect for weddings! The last few days of summer are giving way to the crisp, cool fall evenings. It was a gorgeous day for Kristyn and Tom’s wedding at Wequassett Resort. Their first look on the pier was incredibly picturesque. And after some wedding party portraits on the beach, we were able to wander the property and grab some quintessential Cape Cod photos. The ceremony overlooking the ocean couldn’t have been prettier. Check out the adorable ring bearers walking down the aisle with Kristyn and Tom’s puppy! After the ceremony, guests headed to the waterfront for cocktails and a fabulous nautical themed reception. Laurie and Josh’s Westin Copley Boston Wedding

When Laurie started planning her wedding, she wanted it smack dab in our beautiful city of Boston. And she got her wish! With the Westin Copley as our home, we are able to sneak over to the Public Garden and the Boston Public Library for photos. It couldn’t have been a more lovely day for it. Both Laurie and Josh got ready at the Westin, so I was able to pop into both rooms while they were preparing for the big day. I loved watching Josh (to be more accurate, one of Josh’s groomsmen) tying a real bow tie. After an intimate and lovely first look we were driven to the Public Garden for wedding party and bridal portraits. Then, it was back to the hotel in time for their Ketubah signing. The ceremony was held in the ballroom with the gorgeous city view as their backdrop. The chuppah was adorned in beautiful muted pink and white flowers. When guests returned to the ballroom after the cocktail hour, the room was totally transformed with the city view twinkling and pink up-lighting filling the ballroom. What a transformation! Lisa and Dave’s Thompson Island Wedding

Lisa and Dave’s wedding was the type of day photographer’s dream about with a gorgeous setting and a totally low maintenance couple. The wedding was set on Thompson’s Island, one of the Boston Harbor Islands. I was able to take an earlier ferry to capture Lisa dressing and a great first look. But not before totally pulling one over on Dave with a fake first look (substituting one of Lisa’s girlfriends). The look on Dave’s face was priceless! Guests took the next ferry over and had some time to relax on the island prior to the ceremony while Lisa and Dave signed their ketubah, the Jewish marriage contract. The ceremony was held under the shade of two beautiful trees right on the beach. During the cocktail hour, guests enjoy lawn games and the gorgeous setting sun over the Boston city skyline. After some truly heartfelt toasts (the only real formalities of the evening) was a delicious lobster dinner and dancing in the island’s pavilion. Jenna and Matt’s Oceanside Gloucester Wedding

Jenna and Matt wanted a beautiful wedding on the ocean in Gloucester and the Elks at Bass Rocks provided the perfect setting. It was a warm, hazy summer day and the muted pink and green tones of the bridesmaid’s dresses were a perfect match for the light blue and gray sky and ocean. It was stunning. Jenna and Matt were married on the lawn overlooking the ocean where they made a point of including some important family. Matt’s cousin wrote and performed a beautiful song as part of the ceremony. Jenna’s aunt officiated the ceremony where she explained why Jenna and Matt chose August 22 for their wedding date. It also happened to be Matt’s grandparent’s wedding date! Guests enjoyed cocktail hour while the couple and the very brave wedding party climbed out on the rocks of the Gloucester beach for some fabulous photos. Sooji and Joe’s Elegant Endicott Estate Wedding

I have a special fondness for Sooji and Joe. They’re sweet, talented and totally in love with each other. And they’re in the wedding business which makes them extra fun! Sooji and Joe are florists and met in school learning the craft. They now work together and created every piece you see on their wedding day! When I arrived at the Endicott Estate, Sooji and Joe were still putting the finishing touches on the room. It had to be tough putting all that work in on your own wedding day, but it was totally worth it. The centerpieces with white hydrangea and orchids were beautiful. The bouquets of calla lilies were simple and gorgeous and you have to check out the amazing ceremony pieces and place card table piece. They both ran upstairs with just enough time to prepare for the big day. Joe surprised Sooji with the most lovely bracelet. It was a gorgeous day for an outdoor ceremony by the gazebo on the Endicott Estate property. Pam and Dan’s Cafe Escadrille Wedding

OK, this wedding was so fun! Pam and Dan worked hard to make sure their wedding had a real home town feel. When we first spoke, I remember her telling me how she wanted to keep everything about their wedding local and personal. Pam got ready in her childhood home in Burlington and Dan at their home together in Billerica. The ceremony was also held in a local church. We took many of our family and wedding party portraits in the beautiful back yard of Pam’s parent’s home. Pam and Dan both coach at Burlington High School and are proud of their school! I’m so happy we got the chance to spend some time shooting bridal portraits at the school’s football field on that beautiful summer day. Right down the road, their reception was held at Cafe Escadrille. Both the best man and maid of honor had fun stories from childhood. And Pam’s dad had a wonderful surprise during their father/daughter dance. He actually recorded himself singing to his beloved daughter. Pam’s reaction was fantastic!
