Carol & Connor’s Boston Wedding

Carol and Connor met in a truly singular way…at the very romantic Newark airport.  While waiting for their luggage, they realized they had the same green ribbon tied on the suitcase to make it stand out.  They’ve saved that ribbon and it was pinned into Carol’s bouquet on their wedding day.  And it was a beautiful day!  The rain couldn’t touch Carol and Connor’s excitement.  At times, I’d see Carol out of the corner of my eye just give a little shake or jump in excitement.  It makes their first dance so appropriate…Overwhelmed.  I love it!

Alyssa & Harold’s Endicott Estate Wedding

Alyssa & Harold are special to me!  Alyssa is the sister of a good friend and I was so honored to be a part of their wedding day.  I spent the day at Endicott Estate with them and I was so impressed by how calm and relaxed they both were.  They were surrounded by family and friends and quite obviously were in their element. Yes, it was a rainy day.  But the sun was shining over Alyssa & Harold!

Anna & Patrick’s Seaport Wedding

There is something about the Hahn & Kerrigan families.  They have a way of making you feel like family within minutes.  I was honored to be a part of Anna & Pat’s wedding day at Seaport (where I also feel like family!). But as Anna’s maid of honor eloquently said, Anna & Pat’s marriage was much bigger than the two of them.  I truly witnessed a marriage of two families rather than two individuals.  It was easy to see the Hahn’s and Kerrigan’s have decades of fun together before them!  Congratulations to you all!!

Meredith & Ryan’s Spring Wedding at the Taj

The day with Meredith and Ryan was full of fun!  And some surprises!  We started getting ready at the Taj and I was so touched by the number of heirlooms Meredith and Ryan were able to incorporate into their attire.  They had special accessories passed down from grandparents and great grandparents that included Meredith’s broach & purse and Ryan’s cufflinks and watch.  What a lovely way to be reminded of your history as you look forward to your new future as husband and wife.  We had a perfect time in the Public Garden (as crowded as it was!) and were able to return to the city streets after sunset.  I was thrilled to hear Meredith and Ryan were not afraid to play in traffic with me!  And in the middle of that traffic, we ran into some friendly and gracious Boston Fire Fighters who let us borrow their truck for some extra special images.  Then it was time to whisk the two of them back to the Taj Rooftop Ballroom to dance the night away with one of my favorite bands, K2.  It was such a blast!

Amy & Keith’s One Year Anniversary

Amy and Keith have been married one year.  And as their lives are about to take them across the country, they wanted to mark this special time in their lives living inBoston.  I’m so glad they did!  We spent an afternoon finding some  spots they knew would remind them of their beloved Boston.  Amy and Keith expressed their wonderful relationship and truly singular personalities in each photo.  As you’ll see, one of their hobbies is acrobatics!  It was so much fun to photograph them climb, stretch and pop into handstands!  I’m sad to see Amy & Keith leave our fair city, but I’m am thrilled for them and their new adventure!

Jennifer & Nader’s Classic Rooftop Wedding

I liked Jennifer & Nader as soon as I met them!  They were absolute naturals in front of the camera during their engagement shoot and they were even more easy and fun at the wedding.  Jennifer and Nader really wanted to celebrate their beloved Boston on their wedding day.  I started with Jennifer getting ready at the Taj in Boston which is such a classic looking location.  Perfect for my classic beauty of a bride!  We headed to the ceremony in Medford where the sun streamed into the church’s stained glass windows and made everything dreamy.  Wedding party photos were at the Public Garden for the perfect Boston backdrop.  And finally, we all headed back to the Taj where the rooftop ballroom gave us a truly singular view of the city.  It was the perfect location to celebrate their marriage!

How Handsome is My Husband!

As many of you who have followed this blog know, my husband is a professional musician.  And as adorable as my husband is, I’ve never done a studio session with him!  I’ve shot just about every member of his band except him.  I’m so happy to say that has finally changed.  My very talented and musical genius (an NO I’m not biased) husband has recently gotten some attention due to a personal music project.  He was interviewed by Saxophone Journal not so long ago and they needed an image for the cover.  How lucky to have a wife as a professional photographer!  I was a bit worried as we’ve never tried this before.  We’re great partners, but have never had a client/photographer dynamic.  That can be different, but it was so much fun!  Chris is a natural in front of the camera and very photogenic (once again, not at all biased) which made my job very easy.  I wonder if you think he’s as handsome as I do???     And while I’m in the bragging mood, below are some live images taken of him recently.  Will be sure to show off some more when the Saxophone Journal article and his new […]

Our Anniversary in the Occupy Sandy Kitchen

The holidays can be such a crazy time.  And just as the madness begins to settle down, Chris and I celebrate our anniversary on January 19.  It always seems crazy to spend more money on gifts at that time, so we’ve come up with a different way to celebrate.  Chris and I each choose a unique charity (one we think the other will particularly appreciate) and we make a donation in the other’s name.  This year, when the devastation of Hurricane Sandy hit, we thought our anniversary donation would be much better spent going to the victims of Sandy.  This year, we also wanted to donate our time.  So we researched groups that were doing particularly great work and found Occupy Sandy.  We spent the day working in their kitchen in Bay Ridge which serves over 1000 healthy meals per day to residents who are struggling to rebuild their lives.   When we arrived at the kitchen, which is housed in a local church, it was bustling with volunteers.  There were local neighbors and small groups from schools and community programs.  People with all different backgrounds came together to help out.     They were working from donated food which […]

Strong is Sexy

As a photographer, it’s important for me to stay in shape.  Balance and strength (both inside and out) are vital to taking a great photo, especially outside the studio.  But after a ten hour day of lugging heavy equipment followed by downloading and backing up cards until the middle of the night, it’s pretty tough to get up and head to the gym the next day.  Natalie is one of the few women who can get me out of the house to work out.   Natalie is a fitness instructor who teaches a multitude of classes including Zumba, Cardio Weight Training and her own special brand of Bootcamp called Cardio BootCANp.  In a word, she’s extraordinary.  But why stop at one word!  I can add encouraging, vivacious, inspiring, powerful….her other students can add many more compliments!   Natalie’s BootCANp draws upwards of 100 students per class, but she has the unique ability to make every student feel like the only one in the room.  She gives 120% with every class (which is often 3 classes per day plus personal training sessions).  Not only does Natalie make you feel special, she makes you feel empowered regardless of your fitness level.  She […]

My Weekend with the Shems

I’ve been looking forward to Leah’s Bat Mitzvah for over a year!  I had worked with the Shems at their son Matthew’s Bar Mitzvah three years earlier and it was so much fun.  I knew this one would be a blast!  And despite Nemo working hard to make a mess of things, Leah’s Bat Mitzvah was a fun as promised…one day later.   Leah’s Bat Mitzvah was scheduled for Saturday, February 9.  Anyone near New England (or with a TV, computer or radio) knows that was exactly when Blizzard Nemo dumped several feel of snow on the Northeast.  Knowing the storm was approaching, I was in contact with Leah’s mom Alicia on Friday.  I was most worried about driving conditions that wouldn’t allow me to get to them.  Alicia, quite off the cuff said, “Do you want to stay here Friday?”  “Oh no, that’s not necessary,” was my first thought.  But as the reports started getting more drastic, and a travel ban was looming, the panic set it.  I thought, “There is no way I’m missing this Bat Mitzvah.”  Next thing you know, I’m packing a bag and heading to the Shems’ house for a sleepover.   But Nikki!  Didn’t […]
