Julia + Nicole’s South Beach Style B’Nai Mitzvah at the Cyclorama

Where do I begin?!?!  First let me say how much I love this family!  This is my second Mitzvah with them and I’ve always had a secret wish to be adopted.  When I first photographed Julia and Nicole, they were adorable, goofy, braces wearing pre-teens.  Two years later, they’re sassy, gorgeous (and OK, still goofy), young women!  Of course, this event was just as spectacular as the last.  The celebration was at the Cyclorama in Boston which is basically a huge, funky, empty palate.  The party took on a South Beach Night Club theme complete with spectacular crystals draped from the ceiling and neon lights everywhere (which made for fabulous solar flare in the images).  The room was as gorgeous as the guests!  Finally, the room was not to be outdone by the amazing cake.  It featured all the wonderful places the girls had visited.  I have a feeling there are many more adventures in store for the fabulous girls!

Sam + Rose’s B’nai Mitzvah at the New England Aquarium

Sam + Rose are two sweet, smart, goofy, engaging and all around wonderful people! We met on Thursday for their B’nai Mitzvah rehearsal and spent some quite time shooting with just the family. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them and getting to know their unique and truly lovable personalities. Then, on to the celebration Saturday evening at the New England Aquarium. What a perfect spot for a Mitzvah! And the rare (but much welcome) Spring weather made it perfect for an evening in their waterfront tent. Enjoy your slide show Sam and Rose. And call me for the weddings!!!!

Maddy’s Bat Mitzvah

Maddy and I met three years ago when I shot her brother’s Bar Mitzvah.  I remember her as a sweet, fun and energetic little girl.  Today, she is a vivacious, smart young woman.  What a difference three years make!  She celebrated her Bat Mitzvah at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge.  The party was a dance theme (one of Maddy’s favorite pastimes) and the ballroom was covered in pink!  Family photos were even more special set against the backdrop of the Boston city skyline.  What a great evening!

My Weekend with the Shems

I’ve been looking forward to Leah’s Bat Mitzvah for over a year!  I had worked with the Shems at their son Matthew’s Bar Mitzvah three years earlier and it was so much fun.  I knew this one would be a blast!  And despite Nemo working hard to make a mess of things, Leah’s Bat Mitzvah was a fun as promised…one day later.   Leah’s Bat Mitzvah was scheduled for Saturday, February 9.  Anyone near New England (or with a TV, computer or radio) knows that was exactly when Blizzard Nemo dumped several feel of snow on the Northeast.  Knowing the storm was approaching, I was in contact with Leah’s mom Alicia on Friday.  I was most worried about driving conditions that wouldn’t allow me to get to them.  Alicia, quite off the cuff said, “Do you want to stay here Friday?”  “Oh no, that’s not necessary,” was my first thought.  But as the reports started getting more drastic, and a travel ban was looming, the panic set it.  I thought, “There is no way I’m missing this Bat Mitzvah.”  Next thing you know, I’m packing a bag and heading to the Shems’ house for a sleepover.   But Nikki!  Didn’t […]

Best of 2012!

What a year it has been!  As I reflect on the past year, I see how lucky I’ve been to have worked with such lovely and unique people.  My job has taken me to beautiful locations and has introduced me to some truly wonderful people.  I’ve had such a difficult time choosing my favorite images of 2012…which you’ll see…as there are many!  I’ve had the opportunity to witness and capture some really special and one of a kind moments.  I’m so pleased to be able to share some of my favorites.   The engagement session can be an important part of my job.  And certainly one of the most fun!  It’s my first opportunity to really spend some time with my clients.  I learn about their relationships, personalities and styles.  And my clients learn what it’s like to be photographed.  I always ask my clients to choose a location that is special to them and speaks to their relationship.  So I find myself in some interesting spots from local bars and city streets to hiking trails and farms.  Here are some of my favorite from this year…     The wedding day is a wild and exciting day.  By far, […]

Mazel Tov Sabrina!

This was a blast from the past for me!  When I was contacted by mom Nancy to do Sabrina’s Bat Mitzvah at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, I was thrilled.  I had actually planned sister Marielle’s Bat Mitzvah at Seaport Hotel years back and they were one of my favorite families to work with!  It was so special seeing the smart, beautiful woman Marielle has become and seeing Sabrina truly come into her own.  Thank you so much for including me!  I will be looking forward to the weddings…far into the future!
