Year in Review, Part Three

Studio & Corporate Work   This aspect of my work has really grown in the past year!  The boring old head shot got a makeover!  Professionals need head shots for company websites and social media.  But I approach them in a much more contemporary way that infuses some of their personalities in the image.   I had the opportunity to shoot events for some amazing companies and charities.  And this year, I spent two days working pro bono for a spectacular non-profit organization called Roca.  They give inner city kids an opportunity to get out of the gang lifestyle and into viable jobs.  I loved working with them and learning more about their great progress.   Finally, I had the most fun opportunity of my career.  I spent four days shooting games in Fenway Park for the Red Sox.  I was all over the park including on the filed during the opening ceremonies of opening day.  What a thrill!  As always, some of my favorites are below!

Amy & Keith’s One Year Anniversary

Amy and Keith have been married one year.  And as their lives are about to take them across the country, they wanted to mark this special time in their lives living inBoston.  I’m so glad they did!  We spent an afternoon finding some  spots they knew would remind them of their beloved Boston.  Amy and Keith expressed their wonderful relationship and truly singular personalities in each photo.  As you’ll see, one of their hobbies is acrobatics!  It was so much fun to photograph them climb, stretch and pop into handstands!  I’m sad to see Amy & Keith leave our fair city, but I’m am thrilled for them and their new adventure!

How Handsome is My Husband!

As many of you who have followed this blog know, my husband is a professional musician.  And as adorable as my husband is, I’ve never done a studio session with him!  I’ve shot just about every member of his band except him.  I’m so happy to say that has finally changed.  My very talented and musical genius (an NO I’m not biased) husband has recently gotten some attention due to a personal music project.  He was interviewed by Saxophone Journal not so long ago and they needed an image for the cover.  How lucky to have a wife as a professional photographer!  I was a bit worried as we’ve never tried this before.  We’re great partners, but have never had a client/photographer dynamic.  That can be different, but it was so much fun!  Chris is a natural in front of the camera and very photogenic (once again, not at all biased) which made my job very easy.  I wonder if you think he’s as handsome as I do???     And while I’m in the bragging mood, below are some live images taken of him recently.  Will be sure to show off some more when the Saxophone Journal article and his new […]

Strong is Sexy

As a photographer, it’s important for me to stay in shape.  Balance and strength (both inside and out) are vital to taking a great photo, especially outside the studio.  But after a ten hour day of lugging heavy equipment followed by downloading and backing up cards until the middle of the night, it’s pretty tough to get up and head to the gym the next day.  Natalie is one of the few women who can get me out of the house to work out.   Natalie is a fitness instructor who teaches a multitude of classes including Zumba, Cardio Weight Training and her own special brand of Bootcamp called Cardio BootCANp.  In a word, she’s extraordinary.  But why stop at one word!  I can add encouraging, vivacious, inspiring, powerful….her other students can add many more compliments!   Natalie’s BootCANp draws upwards of 100 students per class, but she has the unique ability to make every student feel like the only one in the room.  She gives 120% with every class (which is often 3 classes per day plus personal training sessions).  Not only does Natalie make you feel special, she makes you feel empowered regardless of your fitness level.  She […]

Beauty is Pain!

As a girl growing up, I’d often hear my mother telling me “beauty is pain.”  She was also known to quote her mother saying, “If it zippers, it fits…” but that’s a story for another day.  My shoot with Naomi really gives that phrase new meaning!  Naomi is a stunning and truly gifted vocalist and was wanting to add a more grown up and sophisticated look to her portfolio.  The session started easily enough in the studio, but then moved to the waterfront.  This is not a session from months ago!  It was last month!  The waterfront in mid-winter is not the most comfortable place to be even dressed appropriately.  But as you notice Naomi’s wardrobe, there is a lot of bare skin there (my mother would have also mentioned catching pneumonia dressed like that…but I digress).  And she was a total trooper, even when it started raining!  She did not complain once!  Is was so cold out, a passer by stopped everything to bring Naomi a cup of hot tea to warm her up.  I’m pretty sure he was in love!  And let’s please not miss the shoes Naomi is wearing.  They were very interesting on the wooden bridge […]
