Ryker, Photos of A Brave and Beautiful Baby at Children’s Hospital

Weeks ago, I was contact by a woman in Utah who was looking for a Boston photographer to donate a portrait session for some friends who had relocated to bring their baby boy to Children’s Hospital.  Ryker is now just over four months old and has already had four major heart surgeries.  Although it is incredibly long, I feel it’s important to spell out Rykers full diagnosis to show just what this amazing baby has been through.  His specific medical diagnosis is…   Heterotaxy RAI (right atrial isomerism) with Asplenia, Right Dominant AtrioVentrical Canal (AVC), Total Anomalous Pulmonary Vein Return (TAPVR), Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV), Left-Sided Pulmonary Vein Stinosis (PVS), & Ventricular Discordance. He also has Heart Block, therefore he has an internal PaceMaker.   So Jay and Rachel Warner uprooted their family and brought Ryker to Children’s Hospital.  Before Ryker goes in for his fifth major heart surgery, Rachel (a true photo buff) wanted to have a family portrait taken.  I was honored to lend my skills.  Luckily, Children’s Hospital has a lovely courtyard that we were able to utilize for the portraits.  It was Ryker’s first time outdoors ever.  You should have seen him looking around!  I […]

Sarah & Chris

It’s always fun photographing a wedding when the couple met in college.  But I must admit, the BC grads are a special kind of treat!  They’re a blast!  Sarah & Chris stayed true to their roots by getting married at Saint Ignatius Church on the BC campus.  So we were able to do some fun formals on campus before the ceremony!  Then we continued the party at the Exchange Conference Center.  Thanks so much for making me a part of it Sarah & Chris!

Meghan & Matt

I knew I was going to love being a part of Meghan & Matt’s wedding during my first meeting with them!  We just clicked!  Meghan and Matt are a super fun couple who refuse to take the world (and themselves) too seriously.  To prove that, our engagement session was in a playground.  Their wedding at Harrington Farm took the formality up a notch, but kept all the fun!  As expected, I loved spending the day with them!

Carolyn & Dan

Carolyn & Dan were wonderful to work with!  Carolyn had every detail of the wedding planned beautifully but somehow maintained the most easy attitude!  All that, and she managed to look stunning that day.  I think she should write a book!  Dan, you looked pretty good too man!  It was an additional treat to be back at Seaport.  Shooting at Seaport always feels like a special homecoming.  Congratulations Carolyn & Dan!

Mary & Jason

Well this is a first!  This is the first Math-themed wedding I have ever shot!  Mary taught and now tutors math, so why not incorporate that into the wedding day!  It makes sense too.  Mary plus Jason equals a lovely pair!  I bet their friends can’t wait until they multiply!  Mary & Jason had a beautiful wedding celebration at the Westin Waltham.  It was an honor to be added to their their day!

Full Circle with Good Friends

This was a truly special day for me!  I have so much history with Rebecca & Dan.  Dan was a good friend growing up.  For those of you who know my stories of middle school, Dan was the kid I sat near in homeroom who would tell me what the week’s assigned reading was about so I could fake my way through English quizzes (sorry mom, but I am no longer a slacker…I swear!).  Dan was also the artist who helped me create my one and only tattoo (a story for another day), so I carry a piece of him with me forever…literally.  We became part of each other’s lives again when he and is soon to be bride decided to get married at Seaport Hotel.  I coordinated their wedding!  I was so happy for Dan.  He and Rebecca made a perfect couple!  Now happily married with their newest addition Thomas, I was able to spend a day photographing their beautiful family.  Thomas is such a happy baby!  The shoot couldn’t have been easier and more fun.  Here is a sample of the photos taken that day.  Thanks for sharing your beautiful baby boy with me Rebecca & Dan!

Jaclyn & Neal

Jackie & Neal’s wedding is a great example of simple, natural beauty.  They were married on the grounds of the Theatre by the Sea in Matunuck, Rhode Island.  They took lots of time incorporating special details in their favorite color, bright orange!  For instance, the name on those orange bottles of soda is no coincidence.  The beautiful and simple way all those details fit into their wedding day mimicked their relationship beautifully.  They were so calm and happy around each other!

Andrea & Mike

When Andrea’s mom Louise contacted me about her Memorial Day weekend wedding, I was thrilled at the prospect of being back at good old Seaport Hotel!  But I felt like I hit the lottery when they hired my very favorite band Kahootz!  What can I say, Louise has great taste.  And so does Andrea!  She and Mike make a perfect couple.  Their fun sense of humor and devotion to their friends and family make them great together.  Their Plaza Ballroom wedding was simply beautiful.

The Love Boat!

When Johnica and Darin wanted to add some Boston flair to their destination wedding in Mexico, they called me!  We planned a engagement session along Boston’s charming waterfront.  And to my excitement, Johnica took the party from the waterfront to ON the water!  I had so much fun with them, I’m so sad I’ll be missing the wedding!  Feel like flying me to Mexico Johnica?

Romance on the Marginal Way

When Jennifer and Steve suggested the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME for the engagement shoot, I was so excited!  I’ve not been wandering around that area for years.  After a few weeks of postponing due to bad weather, we finally got our break!  And it was worth the wait!!!  I loved watching Jen & Steve.  Jen is sweet and reserved, but Steve brought her smile out at every turn.  Thanks for a beautiful day!  Just can’t wait for the wedding.
