Erica & Eric’s Fall Wedding

Erica and Eric are a lot of fun and I really enjoyed their wedding day.  It was a beautiful fall day and we were able to take advantage of some lovely foliage at Cedar Grove Cemetery (yes, you heard me!).  Who knew we’d find such perfect backdrops in a cemetery!  It goes to show you, never say never.  I also love seeing how my clients use special touches to personalize their wedding.  Erica added a beautiful touch to her bouquet.  She was able to keep the history of her parent’s and grandparent’s marriages with her all evening by sewing her mother’s and grandmother’s wedding bands into her bouquet.  It was lovely!

Amy & Kevin’s Meaningful Wedding Day

I was so impressed by the way Amy and Kevin personalized their wedding day.  Everywhere you looked, there were little pieces of their personalities and styles.  They especially put some special thought into their ceremony which can be a part of the day that is sadly, often overlooked.  First, they had a close friend marry them which right away ensured their ceremony would be one of a kind.  Since there was not a priest there to bless the rings, Amy and Kevin had the rings passed among their immediate family so they could “bless” them with special hopes and wishes for the couple.  My favorite touch was the wine box they incorporated.  Amy and Kevin each wrote letters the morning of the wedding to describe what they were feeling that day.  During the ceremony, they had a special wine placed in a wooden box.  They included the letters in the box and nailed the box shut.  The box is to be opened at a special anniversary.  What a wonderful way to add meaning to such an important day!  I hope these photos properly catch all those moments!

Lindsey & Avi’s Fall Wedding in Boston

When Lindsey talked to me about her photos, she said she wanted them to remind her of Fall in Boston.  When I woke up the morning of her wedding, I was so sad to see it was raining.  To my amazement, the rain stopped minutes before we were to start shooting and they day turned out to be a gorgeous Autumn day!  What luck!!!  Lindsey also said she wanted the photos to be fun.  Well, there was really no choice there!  Lindsey and Avi were so much fun all day and it is all over their wedding photos.  Lindsey may have been the happiest bride I’ve ever worked with!  Working at the Museum of Science just added to the character.  And yes, this quirky and fun song was their first dance.  For those of you listening to the lyrics, that would be “One Life Stand”…not “One Night Stand.”  Hmmmm…

Angie & Matt’s Wedding at Seaport World Trade Center

Have you ever worked with clients who made you feel like family?  That’s how I felt walking into Angie’s house the morning of her and Matt’s wedding.  Because of Angie’s very busy schedule, I had the absolute pleasure of doing much of my work her mom Penny.  I could see how proud and happy Penny was for her beautiful daughter (through very happy tears most of the day).  And I could see how thrilled Angie and Matt were to be married.  The union started with a gorgeous Greek ceremony.  Angie and Matt were great sports taking some rainy photos together.  And they were finally able to take cover in the horse and carriage that brought them to the Seaport World Trade Center where they celebrated with friends and family.  The day was such a great time, I don’t think Penny, Angie and Matt will be able to get rid of me!

Laura & Eric’s Autumn Wedding with a Flair

Laura and Eric had everything you could expect for a New England Wedding in the Fall.  The Hellenic Center was the perfect backdrop for an Autumn wedding with an expansive lawn, colorful gardens and abig, beautiful oak tree to hold the ceremony under.  Laura scattered the property with pumpkins, lit the cocktail hour with colorful lanterns, and decorated the cake with autumn leaves.  But there was a little something special with her decor.  There was sparkle everywhere!  From Laura’s sparkly shoes to the glittered pumpkin place cards, elements glittered and sparkled throughout the night.  In addition to the little something special, there was a BIG something special.  That would be the wedding party!  Laura and Eric are blessed to be loved by many people and they were surrounded by a 30 person wedding party! During the reception, they were all introduced together as one unit and danced their way into the ballroom.  It reminded me a bit of the Patriots during the Super Bowl…only much cuter!

Kyle’s Senior Photos

Tis the season!  Senior photos are due!  I LOVE doing senior portraits.  I love working with young adults and trying to bring out their personalities.  The girls can be a real blast!  But I’m most proud when I can get the boys to enjoy it.  I wouldn’t say Kyle was excited to spend the afternoon with me posing for the camera.  But he was a great sport!  And by the end of it, I really think he had a good time.  I was also so happy to work with Kyle’s mom Kathie who was creative and trusting.  It’s a great combination!  We chose some interesting backdrops including a construction site that Kyle and I had to…um…sneak into.  Most of these backdrops were chosen ahead of time.  But my favorite is the blue garage we just happened upon.  Kathie’s only rule for me was, “Just don’t make him hug a tree!”  She didn’t want that same Senior photo we’ve all seen 1000 times with the subject leaning against the obligatory tree forcing an uncomfortable smile.  And I was certainly happy to hear that!  Of course, Kyle and I did have to mess with her a bit.  So the last photo is […]

Heidi & Joe’s Elegant Four Seasons Wedding

I can’t begin to tell you how fond I am of Heidi and Joe!  I’ve been looking forward to their wedding ever since their engagement shoot.  And it did not disappoint!  First, it doesn’t get more elegant than the Four Seasons Hotel.  They even make comfort food elegant.  Check out the fabulous munchies served during the cocktail hour.  The staff and setting were just a joy.  And I was surrounded all day by the most fun and talented people!  Honey from Lotus Designs decorated the ballrooms impeccably.  I spent the entire day with Jeremy from Folster Video and he was a great date (it didn’t hurt that we’re both incurable geeks)!  And we were entertained by the one and only Hip Pocket Orchestra.  But most importantly, Heidi and Joe are the cutest couple!  They are best friends and the only thing they love more than each other is their adorable dog who made a special appearance that day.  Check out his bow tie!  Love it!!!

Josephine’s Photos at Four Months

Four months old is such a great age for baby photos.  Babies are just starting to hold their heads up and their personalities are starting to shine.  Josephine is a beautiful baby!  And she was the perfect model.  There are some great photos of Josephine laying on her belly proudly holding her head and hands up for the crowd.  And she was so curious!  There is a whole series of photos of Josephine very seriously studying her feet.  We had three generations in the studio as Josephine’s mom brought her mom for some help.  And I can see where Josephine gets her easy and happy personality.  It was a lovely day in the Photography by Nikki Cole studios.  Ladies, please come back any time!

Ines & Craig’s DIY Wedding at Butternut Farms

Ines and Craig are such a lovely couple!  Our initial meeting was so easy and fun.  I was thrilled to be chosen to photograph their wedding.  Their wedding day was just as easy and fun.  Ines filled the day with special touches by hand making all of the decor.  That includes the beautiful broach bouquets you’ll see in the slide show!  Craig also added his special touch by planning the honeymoon.  He kept the location of their trip a secret until the wedding day.  Throughout the reception, the DJ would play special songs to give Ines hints to where they were going.  Finally, the location was revealed.  You won’t be able to miss the expression on Ines’ face when she found out they were headed to Hawaii!  The surprise gave Ines all the energy she needed to dance the night away.  Ines’ family is Portuguese and the Portuguese music and traditional dancing was a blast.  Ines and Craig, I hope you two are watching this show from under a palm tree!  Congratulations!

Kristen & Ryan’s Cape Cod Wedding

Kristen & Ryan were so much fun to work with!  They were an easy and happy couple who were good sports about photography (even though Ryan like to PRETEND he didn’t enjoy getting his photo taken…we’re totally BFF’s now!).  And they had to be good sports.  It just happened to be the windiest day of the season!  But that didn’t stop us from heading to Craigville Beach where they grew up spending summers, and taking some beautiful images of the two of them.  After some more wind blown wedding party photos, Kristen and Ryan had a beautiful ceremony at Saint Andrews by the Sea where we had another interesting photo situation.  Photography is not allowed at all inside the chapel.  So all the images you see of this ceremony were taken outside the chapel through a door they were kind enough to leave open!  That ended our photo madness.  We were off to celebrate at the Hyannisport Club.  The reception was beautifully decorated with subtle seaside touches (I love their  place card table!).  Guests danced to the wildly fun Mirage Band and left the party with some yummy home brewed beer as favors.  With help from Laura at Pink Polka Dot […]
