Brand New

When long time family friend and past client Jessica trusted her newborn baby boy with me and my photography skills, I was honored.  At three weeks old, Andrew is truly new to this world.  And he’s just perfect!  We had a lovely session tiptoeing around the sleeping Andrew.  These are just a few of my favorites!

City Girl…Country Boy

Candida & Tim are from two very different backgrounds.  They are a great example of how yin and yang can work in a relationship.  Tim is a quite, understated Southern Gentleman (yes, he called me ma’am the entire session) and Candi is a sassy, strong City Girl.  They wanted an engagement photography session that reflected their backgrounds.  So on Tim’s far too short leave from the Military, we spent two days together shooting.  Our first day was spent playing on a farm and the second day running around downtown Boston.  The backgrounds were very different, but their fun natures and love for each other was the same on both days!  Ironically, I think Candi had more fun in cowgirl boots on the farm and Tim had more fun dressing up in the city.

Brienne & Mike

Brienne and Mike were High School sweethearts and after a decade, decided to make their relationship official.  Their history made for one of the easiest and most fun weddings I’ve ever shot.  Almost everyone in their wedding had known each other for over a decade.  Their wedding at Harrington Farm was a party from the word go!  Brie and Mike are also thespians and were very much into the music on their wedding day.  That could mean only one thing.  They hired Boston’s best band, Kahootz (and no, I’m not biased).  Being a part of this wedding was such a joy.  I’m so happy for you Brie & Mike!  Congratulations!!!

On your mark…get set…get married!

Spring has sprung.  And to photographers all over Boston, that means one thing…Wedding Season!  I can’t think of a better way to kick off the season than spending it with Rob & Marie.  Rob and Marie were married in front of an intimate group of special friends in the Boston Public Garden.  But they have taken the beginning of their lives together to a new level.  Rob and Marie will go from the starting line of their marriage to the starting line of the Boston Marathon.  They will run the race together as husband and wife!  Notice the fancy foot ware in preparation.  You’ll also see them sporting their numbers for the race.  Best of luck in the race Rob and Marie!  And congratulations!

I Love my Job!

There are so many things about my job that I love.  One of the biggest, is the variety it offers me.  They say variety is the spice of life.  If that’s true, my life is straight out of a Mexican restaurant!  In a 48 hour period, I was able to participate in three jobs completely different from one and other.  Each job made the creative juices flow and allowed me to be completely fresh for the next.  The first day started with a studio session with Khalil Abdul-Malik.  Khalil is a very talented musician and we were creating sleek and sexy images for his new CD cover.  Not only did I have a blast taking the photos, I also got a personal serenade! Khalil liked to sing while we shot.  Be sure to check him out at Reverb Nation.  Love that smooth voice! The next day brought me outside for two shoots.  I started will Jillian…5 going on 15.  I’ve been shooting Jillian since she was one year old.  She’s always loved the camera.  And the camera has always loved her!  She is a fun and sassy young lady and kept me on my toes the entire shoot!  There was […]

Gregory Porter

You may remember my New Year’s Resolution blog post not so long ago.  In it, I described a great trip to New York City with my beloved husband.  While I dragged him to a Broadway Musical (he always likes them in the end), his choice for entertainment was Smoke Jazz Supper Club.  That night, I was introduced to Gregory Porter and have been listening to his music ever since.  This month, Mr. Porter performed at the Regatta Bar at the Charles Hotel and I was given the opportunity to photograph his performance!  I have to admit, it was tough taking the photos.  I kept finding myself, camera by my side just listening to him sing.  But I managed to snap a few.  If you’ve not heard his music yet, please visit his site and buy his CD.  In the last post, I talked about his song “1960 What”.  My new favorite is “Real Good Hands” which can now be found on his website.  I hope you enjoy his music as much as I do and I hope you enjoy these photos!

Bliss Celebrations Magazine!

We’re so proud to once again be featured in the current issue of Bliss Celebrations Magazine!  This feature highlights the unique and beautiful work created by Donna Kim event planner, invitation extraordinaire and owner of The Perfect Details.  Here is the spread featuring Lisa & Matt’s simple and elegant Newport Wedding at Belle Mer.  The theme behind their wedding blended natural elements with elegant touches.   And here is the slide show with my favorite photos from their wedding day.  You can see how the blend of natural beauty and refined elegance is evident throughout their Newport Wedding.

Smithsoneon & The Jazz Thugs

This week, I was grateful for the opportunity to photograph some very talented  people in a truly unique and challenging space.  In a small, independently owned, Asian American book store,  Smithsoneon & the Jazz Thugs performed by the light of two small, red paper lanterns.  East Meets West Bookstore is managed by the Boston Progress Arts Collective.  It houses the largest selection of independent Asian American products on the East Coast, including books, DVDs, hip hop, rock, and spoken word CDs and vinyl, chapbooks, gear and one-of-a-kind artwork from established and up-and-coming artists from across the country.  They hosted Smithsoneon and the Jazz Thugs as part of their Music Box Series   The lack of any real light and the tight quarters made this a very interesting challenge to shoot.  I’m hoping these images are as unique as the outstanding music I heard that night.  The Jazz Thugs are a group of gentlemen who met their freshmen year at Berklee School of Music and have been playing Jazz together ever since.  They’ve only named themselves recently due to the increased attention they’ve received.  Saturday night, they featured jazz covers as well as some unique compositions including an amazing piece set to Martin Luther […]

Lieutenant Colonel Lee Comes Home

Happy Valentine’s Day! To celebrate, we’ve released our new website! And I couldn’t imagine a better suited post to start the new look with. When my good friend Jen told me her husband was returning from Afghanistan after a long, difficult year I was honored to accompany her to document this very special homecoming. The homecoming was to take place on Friday at 4:00pm and was to be full of celebration and fun for the troops and their families. Sadly, the event was moved to midnight the day before preventing Jen from brining her six (yes…I said six) young children to greet their dad. This made it even more important for me to capture the event for them. The 26th Yankee Brigade arrived home to the Camp Curtis Guild armory in Reading, MA. Despite the late hour, friends and family crowded the armory in anticipation of seeing their loved ones. My friend Jen clutched notes and pictures drawn by her children while family members hung signs celebrating their loved one’s safe return. I couldn’t help but take a picture of the most interesting sign in the armory. I’m dying to know about poor Greg’s car!   As the door to […]

The best laid plans…

I love the great connections I can make working a wedding!  While working at Meghan and Alex’s wedding in July, I was very fortunate to meet their matron of honor Wendi.  Wendi was a few months pregnant with her son Bryce.  Months later, I had the honor of having baby Bryce in my studio for his first professional photo shoot.  When Wendi arrived, she had some of the best accessories for Bryce’s photo shoot!  We had great hats, comfy blankets and an adorable set of colorful blocks spelling Bryce’s name.  It was going to be a fun shoot! Bryce is obviously a minimalist, as he had other plans.  First of all, the hats made his little head too hot and he didn’t enjoy them at all (that’s fine, Bryce has a faux hawk that should not be missed!).  Next, the blanket was pretty slippery and Bryce did not enjoy being propped up on it.  And most importantly, Bryce just didn’t seem to enjoy the studio.  Every time we walked him into the studio, he started to cry!  And every time we walked him into my office, he would stop. So what do you do when your subject has no desire […]
