2015 Year In Review

Happy New Year!  2015 Has been a fun and wild ride with some fantastic clients and new opportunities.  I’ve had the honor of documenting some truly unique weddings in gorgeous locations in the heart of the city, on  islands, in private homes and in barns.  The celebrations have ranged from elegant ballroom parties to easy clambakes with lawn games.   As a professional, I’ve grown in many ways this year.  I started the year with a complete re-brand including a brand new website.  I explored new tools to improve my craft including external lighting for receptions and evening photos.  But with all these great changes, I never changed my focus.  When it comes to shooting weddings, I will always consider myself a story teller first.  Below, are some of my favorite moments captured at the weddings I photographed in 2015.   There were so many wonderful memories to choose from.  Some highlights include shooting two sisters in the same year, seeing both the bride and groom break a glass during their Jewish ceremony, shooting for some fantastic fellow wedding professionals and my first ever fake first look (the look on the groom’s face was priceless).  There were epic dance floors, […]

Kristyn and Tom’s Cape Wedding at Wequassett Resort

It’s that time of year when the weather can be just perfect for weddings!  The last few days of summer are giving way to the crisp, cool fall evenings.  It was a gorgeous day for Kristyn and Tom’s wedding at Wequassett Resort.  Their first look on the pier was incredibly picturesque.  And after some wedding party portraits on the beach, we were able to wander the property and grab some quintessential Cape Cod photos.  The ceremony overlooking the ocean couldn’t have been prettier.  Check out the adorable ring bearers walking down the aisle with Kristyn and Tom’s puppy!  After the ceremony, guests headed to the waterfront for cocktails and a fabulous nautical themed reception.  You’ll love all the little details!   Don’t forget to check out their full slide show! Laurie and Josh’s Westin Copley Boston Wedding

When Laurie started planning her wedding, she wanted it smack dab in our beautiful city of Boston.  And she got her wish!  With the Westin Copley as our home, we are able to sneak over to the Public Garden and the Boston Public Library for photos.  It couldn’t have been a more lovely day for it.  Both Laurie and Josh got ready at the Westin, so I was able to pop into both rooms while they were preparing for the big day.  I loved watching Josh (to be more accurate, one of Josh’s groomsmen) tying a real bow tie.  After an intimate and lovely first look we were driven to the Public Garden for wedding party and bridal portraits.  Then, it was back to the hotel in time for their Ketubah signing.  The ceremony was held in the ballroom with the gorgeous city view as their backdrop.  The chuppah was adorned in beautiful muted pink and white flowers.  When guests returned to the ballroom after the cocktail hour, the room was totally transformed with the city view twinkling and pink up-lighting filling the ballroom.  What a transformation!  The only thing more brilliant and vibrant was Laurie’s smile.  I swear, that […]

Lisa and Dave’s Thompson Island Wedding

Lisa and Dave’s wedding was the type of day photographer’s dream about with a gorgeous setting and a totally low maintenance couple.  The wedding was set on Thompson’s Island, one of the Boston Harbor Islands.  I was able to take an earlier ferry to capture Lisa dressing and a great first look.  But not before totally pulling one over on Dave with a fake first look (substituting one of Lisa’s girlfriends).  The look on Dave’s face was priceless!  Guests took the next ferry over and had some time to relax on the island prior to the ceremony while Lisa and Dave signed their ketubah, the Jewish marriage contract.  The ceremony was held under the shade of two beautiful trees right on the beach.  During the cocktail hour, guests enjoy lawn games and the gorgeous setting sun over the Boston city skyline.  After some truly heartfelt toasts (the only real formalities of the evening) was a delicious lobster dinner and dancing in the island’s pavilion.  Toward the end of the evening a bonfire was lit, so smores were obviously in order! It couldn’t have been a more perfect day for an absolutely perfect couple.     Don’t forget to check out […]

Pam and Dan’s Cafe Escadrille Wedding

OK, this wedding was so fun!  Pam and Dan worked hard to make sure their wedding had a real home town feel.  When we first spoke, I remember her telling me how she wanted to keep everything about their wedding local and personal.  Pam got ready in her childhood home in Burlington and Dan at their home together in Billerica.  The ceremony was also held in a local church.  We took many of our family and wedding party portraits in the beautiful back yard of Pam’s parent’s home.  Pam and Dan both coach at Burlington High School and are proud of their school!  I’m so happy we got the chance to spend some time shooting bridal portraits at the school’s football field on that beautiful summer day.  Right down the road, their reception was held at Cafe Escadrille.  Both the best man and maid of honor had fun stories from childhood.  And Pam’s dad had a wonderful surprise during their father/daughter dance.  He actually recorded himself singing to his beloved daughter.  Pam’s reaction was fantastic!  Dan’s dad had his own surprise (at least a surprise to me).  He rocked that dance floor like a champion!  I’m pretty sure I have […]

Isabelle and Andrew’s Royal Sonesta Boston, Summer Wedding

Isabelle and Andrew are such a fun couple!  All you have to do is see Isabelle enjoying a sip of champagne (my kind of lady) or watch Andrew mugging it up for the camera to know I’m telling the truth.  We had a great day at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge.  The weather was gorgeous.  The beautiful summer day was the perfect backdrop for Isabelle’s vibrant color palate of pink and blue (or was that your idea Andrew?).  After the ceremony, we spent time along the Charles River creating some fabulous portraits.  And the vibrant colors continued in the ballroom with gorgeous pink centerpieces and bright pink up-lighting.  The color in the intimate ballroom popped beautifully, but never felt overwhelming.  Now that’s the way to do vibrant color at a wedding.  The only things that popped more were the smiles on Isabelle and Andrew’s faces!   Don’t forget to check out their full slide show! Christina and Nick’s Charter Oak Country Club, Greek Wedding

Some of you may remember a beautiful January wedding in Boston that I shot for Irene and Ben.  Well, this summer I’ve had the honor to shoot her sister Christina’s wedding to Nick.  And I was so happy to be spending another happy day with the Krommydas family!  The Krommydas family weddings are so special because Christina’s dad is a Greek Orthodox priest.  In each wedding, Father Nick walked his daughters down the aisle and proceeded to officiate the ceremony.  I just melted every time father and daughter shared a knowing little glance!  It made each lovely tradition in the Greek Orthodox ceremony that much more meaningful.  Once again, shooting through tears.  Friends and family gathered at Charter Oak Country Club to celebrate the special day and it was like the two families had always been one big family.  They hugged, and laughed easily.  And they danced.  Man did they dance!  There is one more Krommydas sibling.  I will be sitting and waiting patiently by the phone… Don’t forget to check out the full slide show!

Leah and Brad’s Seaport Boston Summer Wedding

It was a lovely summer day on Boston’s waterfront for Leah and Brad’s wedding.  The entire experience from getting ready to dancing the night away was at Seaport Boston.  Their ceremony was held in the airy and bright Winter Garden followed by a excellent celebration in Seaport’s Lighthouse.  Leah kept the decor elegant in neutral and white tones to allow the beautiful setting and view of the Lighthouse to shine.  And it felt like almost as much of a party for me as it did for them!  I was able to work with some of my very favorite people.  As you may know, I was a wedding planner for years at Seaport so it was like walking into my second home.  And Leah and Brad (wanting a fantastic dance party) were totally brilliant to hire Kahootz…my very favorite band and clearly the best band in Boston (no, I’m not biased).  The focus all day was on fun, friends and family.  And it was a blast.   Don’t forget to check out their full slide show! Claudette and Jonathan’s Royal Sonesta Cambridge Wedding

Claudette and Jonathan enjoyed a gorgeous day in Cambridge for their wedding celebration.  And I just can’t get over Claudette’s smile all day!  We started at the Royal Sonesta getting ready.  No first look for this traditional couple.  Wedding details included Jonathan’s gorgeous watch that was a gift from Claudette and a very special photo charm tucked into Claudette’s bouquet to remember her father.  The striking MIT Chapel made a beautiful backdrop for their ceremony.  Then it was back to the Sonesta for special toasts and salsa dancing!  Their first dance kicked off the dancing starting with a lovely acoustic version of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream morphing quickly into a fabulous Latin rhythm!  It didn’t take long for the dance floor to fill! Don’t forget to check out their full slide show!   VENDORS Ceremony: MIT Chapel Reception: Royal Sonesta Cambridge Cake: Montilio’s Video: Black Tie Video DJ: Good Times Unlimited, Inc Hair & Makeup: Blushing Brides Flowers: Stapleton

Amanda and Michael’s Waterfront Boston Wedding

After threats of rain all week, Amanda and Michael’s wedding day was just gorgeous with a brilliant blue sky!  We spent the entire day at the Exchange Conference Center with gave us great photos on the pier and on the ocean.  The ceremony was held outside right on the water with a tented dinner to follow.  The tent was gorgeous complete with an organza draped ceiling and chandeliers.  The flowers by Jeri Solomon Floral Design gave the tent and airy garden feel.  After dinner, guests headed inside the Exchange Conference Center and danced the night away!  I’d have to say, the star of the show was absolutely Amanda’s daughter Leah.  Amanda and Michael did a wonderful job including her in the entire day.  She was the flower girl, received a beautiful locket from Michael during the ceremony, sat at the head table and was even a part of their special first dance.  It was so touching!   And don’t forget to take a peek at their full slide show!
