Year in Review, Part Four

Weddings Getting Ready I’m not afraid to admit, I love shooting weddings!  It’s a good thing too, because they make up the bulk of my work.  I’ve separated my year in review into the distinctly different segments of the day.  The first part of the day can be the most important for a photographer.  When we first arrive, the bride is just getting ready.  The jitters often abound!  Tension can be high and the photographer plays a very special role.  We can either add to the tension of the day or work to lighten the load.  I always try to make my clients comfortable the moment I arrive.  This sets the tone for the rest of my work.  The details and moments I capture while the bride gets ready are among my favorite all day.

Year in Review, Part Three

Studio & Corporate Work   This aspect of my work has really grown in the past year!  The boring old head shot got a makeover!  Professionals need head shots for company websites and social media.  But I approach them in a much more contemporary way that infuses some of their personalities in the image.   I had the opportunity to shoot events for some amazing companies and charities.  And this year, I spent two days working pro bono for a spectacular non-profit organization called Roca.  They give inner city kids an opportunity to get out of the gang lifestyle and into viable jobs.  I loved working with them and learning more about their great progress.   Finally, I had the most fun opportunity of my career.  I spent four days shooting games in Fenway Park for the Red Sox.  I was all over the park including on the filed during the opening ceremonies of opening day.  What a thrill!  As always, some of my favorites are below!

Year In Review, Part Two

Engagements Engagement sessions are a great way to get to know my clients before a wedding while allowing clients an opportunity to get comfortable being in front of the camera.  The sessions also create an opportunity to insert some more personality into their wedding.  I suggest couples choose a location or activity that is special to them.  The significance adds a special touch to the session!  Some of my clients got their beloved pets involved this year.  The puppies were so much fun!  I had an extra special experience this year too.  I had the opportunity to shoot an actual proposal at Fenway Park.  Those images are included below with many other favorite moments.

The Year in Review, Part One

Children, Teens & Families What a year it has been!  I’ve been so fortunate this year and have done more shooting than ever.  This year’s review will come in chapters and is going to take us right through to New Year’s Eve!   My children, teens and family business is booming thanks, in part, to my beloved former clients.  I don’t advertise family portraiture at all.  All of my work comes from word of mouth.  I was floored by all the business brought in this year by my beloved clients.  I photographed babies of former brides, children of former bridesmaids and siblings of former portrait clients.  I was thrilled when former clients called me for gift certificates.  They were so happy with their experience and images, they wanted to give that gift to a loved one!  I was equally as honored when past portrait clients came back for another year.  This was my second and third time photographing some of these families!   I have so much fun photographing children and families!  The babies just make me melt.  And the toddlers are a blast to chase around an play with.  I’ve learned to turn the shoot into one big game […]

Maddy’s Bat Mitzvah

Maddy and I met three years ago when I shot her brother’s Bar Mitzvah.  I remember her as a sweet, fun and energetic little girl.  Today, she is a vivacious, smart young woman.  What a difference three years make!  She celebrated her Bat Mitzvah at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge.  The party was a dance theme (one of Maddy’s favorite pastimes) and the ballroom was covered in pink!  Family photos were even more special set against the backdrop of the Boston city skyline.  What a great evening!

Kimberly + Mark’s Hyatt Harborside Wedding

I’m very fond of Kimberly + Mark!  And I was thrilled that despite their quiet and gentle natures, they decided to have this goofy girl around on their wedding day.  They had a lovely Sunday afternoon wedding at the Hyatt Harborside.  If you’ve never been there, it is one of the best views of the city skyline ever! I love how the setting sun changed the look of the sky, the city and the ballroom with each hour.  I’m sure you’ll see what I mean from these images!

Melissa + Pete’s UMASS Club Wedding

When I met with Melissa + Pete, they stressed the importance of including their loved ones in their wedding celebration.  Well, that was pretty easy considering Melissa + Pete’s friends and family are so talented!  We enjoyed some exquisite musical performances during the ceremony.  But one other participant stole the show.  Check out their beloved dog Baily in that tux!  The celebration was at the fabulous UMASS Club which has a lovely view of Boston’s city skyline!

Jocelyn + Nick’s City Wedding

Jocelyn + Nick had the perfect city wedding!  From the beautiful downtown church to the formal photos in front of the sparkling lights of the Boston city skyline, it was sheer cosmopolitan elegance.  But the sparkle of the city lights paled in comparison to Jocelyn’s eyes every time she looked at Nick!  She was a dazzling beauty!  The Boston classic hotel Omni Parker House was the perfect location for this cosmopolitan couple!

Rebecca + Josh’s Seaport Boston Wedding

Rebecca + Josh’s wedding was a true celebration.  They were one of the happiest couples I’ve ever seen and their friends and family couldn’t have been more thrilled to witness their union.  It was a beautiful day at Boston’s Seaport Hotel, but it was so windy!  Normally, we play outside by the city skyline and arches and this was simply not possible.  Rebecca may have blown away!  I was so happy to be able to take advantage of a quiet little corner surrounded by some lovely foliage.  One of the many things I love about Seaport.  There are always options!

Lindsey + James’ Royal Sonesta Wedding

Lindsey and James’ wedding was the perfect blend of elegance and fun.  The Royal Sonesta Cambridge was the perfect, plush backdrop for their black and white themed celebration.  At every head turn, I saw ruffles and sparkles.  Set that against the station style dinner of comfort foods like sliders, fries, lobster rolls and whoopee pies along with amazingly fun band Rare Form and it was the perfect evening!  Having photographed Lindsey’s sister’s wedding a few years back, I expected nothing short of fabulous.  And that’s what I got!
