Christina and Nick’s Charter Oak Country Club, Greek Wedding

Some of you may remember a beautiful January wedding in Boston that I shot for Irene and Ben.  Well, this summer I’ve had the honor to shoot her sister Christina’s wedding to Nick.  And I was so happy to be spending another happy day with the Krommydas family!  The Krommydas family weddings are so special because Christina’s dad is a Greek Orthodox priest.  In each wedding, Father Nick walked his daughters down the aisle and proceeded to officiate the ceremony.  I just melted every time father and daughter shared a knowing little glance!  It made each lovely tradition in the Greek Orthodox ceremony that much more meaningful.  Once again, shooting through tears.  Friends and family gathered at Charter Oak Country Club to celebrate the special day and it was like the two families had always been one big family.  They hugged, and laughed easily.  And they danced.  Man did they dance!  There is one more Krommydas sibling.  I will be sitting and waiting patiently by the phone… Don’t forget to check out the full slide show!

Leah and Brad’s Seaport Boston Summer Wedding

It was a lovely summer day on Boston’s waterfront for Leah and Brad’s wedding.  The entire experience from getting ready to dancing the night away was at Seaport Boston.  Their ceremony was held in the airy and bright Winter Garden followed by a excellent celebration in Seaport’s Lighthouse.  Leah kept the decor elegant in neutral and white tones to allow the beautiful setting and view of the Lighthouse to shine.  And it felt like almost as much of a party for me as it did for them!  I was able to work with some of my very favorite people.  As you may know, I was a wedding planner for years at Seaport so it was like walking into my second home.  And Leah and Brad (wanting a fantastic dance party) were totally brilliant to hire Kahootz…my very favorite band and clearly the best band in Boston (no, I’m not biased).  The focus all day was on fun, friends and family.  And it was a blast.   Don’t forget to check out their full slide show! Amanda and Michael’s Waterfront Boston Wedding

After threats of rain all week, Amanda and Michael’s wedding day was just gorgeous with a brilliant blue sky!  We spent the entire day at the Exchange Conference Center with gave us great photos on the pier and on the ocean.  The ceremony was held outside right on the water with a tented dinner to follow.  The tent was gorgeous complete with an organza draped ceiling and chandeliers.  The flowers by Jeri Solomon Floral Design gave the tent and airy garden feel.  After dinner, guests headed inside the Exchange Conference Center and danced the night away!  I’d have to say, the star of the show was absolutely Amanda’s daughter Leah.  Amanda and Michael did a wonderful job including her in the entire day.  She was the flower girl, received a beautiful locket from Michael during the ceremony, sat at the head table and was even a part of their special first dance.  It was so touching!   And don’t forget to take a peek at their full slide show! Lisa & Josh’s Cambridge Waterfront Wedding

Lisa and Josh’s wedding was just gorgeous!  We spent the day at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge.  Their first look was right on the Charles River with under a brilliant blue sky with a fabulous view of Boston.  It was a windy day, but Lisa and Josh were excellent sports about it.  We were also able to sneak out for a few more bridal portraits after the ceremony just before sunset.  Their traditional Jewish ceremony was held under a splendid chuppah of delicate pink and white flowers.  When the ballroom opened up, the fantastic view of the Boston city skyline was revealed.  That, along with the stylish white dance floor and dramatic ballroom lighting made a perfect backdrop for their fabulous party.  Don’t forget to watch the full slide show below for one of the best first dance songs ever!         Check out their full slide show here!  Their fabulous vendors… Royal Sonesta Boston Rentals Unlimited Beantown Band Suzanne B. Dianna & Ben – Seaport World Trade Center, Spring Wedding in Boston

Dianna and Ben were so much fun on their wedding day!  And I was thrilled we finally got the early Spring weather we were supposed to have for an early spring wedding in Boston!  Their first look on Seaport World Trade Center’s Boulevard of Flags was just gorgeous.  The flags and the Boston city skyline make a perfect backdrop for their formal photos.  The ceremony in the Winter Garden was so bright and airy it felt like we were outside.  The flowers were the epitome of Spring with beautiful, soft pinks and greens.  That soft, lovely palate transitioned into neon up-lighting in the Harborview Ballroom so guests could dance the night away!  But my favorite photos of the day were the quick ones we were able to sneak in on the huge Harborview Ballroom deck right on Boston Harbor.  The light was soft and Dianna and Ben were truly blissful having just finished their vows.  It was a fantastic day!  Some of my favorite wedding photos from the day… First Look and Formal Photos Wedding Details   Special Wedding Day Moments And here is their full wedding day slide show!   Thanks to her great vendors! Daylight not Included – Shooting Portraits at Night

Wedding and event photography can be unique as photographers have very little control over their setting and subjects.  We rarely get to weigh in on the time of day these events happen.  Occasionally, my wedding clients will consult with me when deciding their ceremony time and I love when they do.  But I understand that optimal lighting is not the top priority for my couples.  In fact, if you’ve hired a professional, seasoned and talented photographer, you should not have to worry about lighting at all.  A great wedding photographer should know how to create beautiful images regardless of the lighting.   So when I’m told my only chance to get the entire wedding party together is after sunset, I’m not phased at all.  Not only am I confident I can create beautiful indoor images.  I’m downright excited about shooting outdoors at night.  I get the chance to pull out extra lights and stands and create a fabulous evening portrait.  When you know what you’re doing, evening can be a perfect time for photography.  I’m more able to create and control my own lighting at night.  It can be a blast!  Below, are some of my favorite evening photos.

The Top Ten Ways to Enjoy Your Wedding Day

Between photographing and planning weddings, I’ve worked with hundreds of brides and grooms.  And while most of them have a blast on their wedding day, sadly some find themselves tired, uncomfortable and unhappy.  Some have made unfortunate choices while planning their big day and some are just too stressed and freaked out to enjoy the day.  After all the planning and money put into their wedding day, it breaks my heart when a client is not able to enjoy it!  I’d like to help future engaged couples of the world enjoy every minute of their wedding day.  So here are my top ten tips to do just that. Hire people you trust and enjoy – If you trust your wedding vendors you will not spend your day worrying if they are actually going to do what you’ve asked them to do.  If you enjoy your wedding vendors, you will be happy to see them when they arrive.  They will add to your happy day rather than being someone you have to put up with. Take care of yourself on the days leading up to your wedding day – I know when I’m tired I’m more likely to overreact to stress […]

Irene + Ben’s Classic Winter Wedding in Boston

Irene and Ben’s wedding had an elegant flair with beautiful old world charm.  Everything from Irene’s classic fitted lace gown to their choice of the historic Hampshire House for their celebration fit in line with that style.  Irene’s choice of beautiful winter white flowers from Winston Flowers matched a gorgeous white backdrop the snow storm that week which gave us.  Gorgeous…but very chilly.  I am so impressed with Irene and Bed for venturing out in the 18 degree weather with me for a few minutes that day!  I would be remiss if I did not mention the most touching part of the day.  The ceremony was truly special as Irene’s father is the pastor at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Weston.  I’ve always found Greek wedding ceremonies to be a joy to capture.  But watching Father Nick perform the ceremony for his baby girl was quite a treat!  I am honored to say I will be back with the Krommydas family in July when their second daughter Christina is married.  I’m bracing myself to have to once again shoot through tears.  Thank you for making me a part of these special memories.

Jessica + Eric’s Romantic Winter Wedding in Boston’s Seaport District

You know I just love it when I have the chance to work with several clients in a tight group of friends.  After the second or third wedding, I start to feel like one of the girls!  Jessica and Eric’s wedding was like that.  I had three former clients and one future client (and one current client of course!) in the same ballroom.  I had as much fun as the guests!  Jessica and Eric’s wedding was an elegant affair at the beautiful Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel.  After seeing them at previous affairs and their engagement shoot, I felt like a good friend rather than a photographer.  They were even brave enough to spend some time with me outdoors in the cold but beautiful Boston Seaport District.  Thank you for a wonderful close to my 2014 wedding season Jessica and Eric!  It was perfect!

Rachel + Jared’s Elegant Cambridge Wedding

If I went around the ballroom and asked their wedding guests to describe Rachel and Jared in one word, I would get some interesting responses for sure!  But top on the list would be FUN.  Rachel and Jared’s wedding day was filled with laughter, humor, joy and most of all fun.  There was also a healthy dose of bling thrown in compliments of Rachel!  Check out her shoes and jewelry!  The ceremony and reception overlooked the beautiful Boston city skyline from the ballroom at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.  But the twinkling of the city lights was nothing compared to the twinkle in Rachel and Jared’s eyes!
