Deb + Kevin’s Elegant Ocean Side Wedding

Deb and Kevin’s wedding was a photographer’s dream! It was filled with splendid colors and textures from the lace in Deb’s dress and the beautiful table cloths to the sparkle of the crystal in the centerpieces and Deb’s jewelery. The beautiful blue ocean contrasted with the green sea grass. But most importantly, there was genuine love and happiness everywhere I looked! It was a true joy to shoot their wedding.

Amy + Jason’s Andover Country Club Wedding

Fun. That’s the first word that comes to mind when I think of Amy and Jason! From the wedding party to both extended families, at every turn someone was making someone else laugh. Of course, I’m I’ve become accustomed to this wonderful atmosphere! I had four former clients in the room and each shoot was a fun as the last. I’m totally spoiled by all of you! Laura + Mark’s Cape Cod Wedding at Coonamessett Inn

Laura is a good friend and former colleague. So when she approached me to photograph her wedding at the lovely Coonamessett Inn, I was thrilled! But Mark and Laura are not my typical client. They did not want a lot of photography. They only wanted three hours of coverage (and I actually had to talk her into that third hour). “I just want a few nice pictures Nikki,” she said. Well, I adore Laura. So that’s what I did! And I’m so glad I was a part of the day. Laura and Mark are one of the most genuine, loving and adorable couples I’ve ever met! It was a rainy day. But that didn’t stop us from heading out and playing in the rain. They were total troopers. And I hope you agree Laura. You got a few nice pictures!

An ode to the Banquet Manager, the Unsung Hero

As many of you know, photography is my second career. For a long time, my first home was Seaport Hotel where I worked as a wedding planner. It was actually the perfect place to start learning about wedding photography. I learned how to be in exactly the right place at exactly the right time to capture the perfect moment. I learned how to stay cool under pressure. And most importantly, I learned that it’s not just about my job. A successful wedding requires many people working together to make the day feel elegant and seamless. Many of my most important lessons were taught by my banquet managers. “Who is the banquet manager?” you ask! They’re the exhausted looking person roaming the ballroom giving baseball coach-like hand signals to the waitstaff all night. And they have more control over your event than you think. The planners can plan and the sales managers can direct, but the banquet manager executes. They manage the waitstaff throughout the evening and control the timeline by choosing when to serve and clear. And they act as liaison between the chef and the client. Britt’s Surprise Birthday, the All White Celebration

Britt and Kevin are a very special couple to me! I was honored to photograph their gorgeous Newport wedding in 2009. Then I was thrilled to be called to photograph their first baby this winter. This weekend, I was there to capture Britt’s surprise birthday celebration. Kevin pulled out all the stops for Britt! It was a fabulous day (husbands everywhere, prepare to have the birthday bar raised)! We started at the GTO spa on Newbury Street in Boston where Britt spent the entire day being pampered including hair and makeup at the end. Kevin had three white dresses ready for Britt to choose for the party. We had a quick mini-session on the rooftop of the spa and it was off to the party at the Griffin Museum of Photography! Kevin hired event coordinator Donna Kim (who also did the wedding…yes the band was getting back together!) to create an all white party. Guests arrived in their finest white outfits to dine and dance all evening. It was beautiful!

Meg + Mike’s Elegant Boston Wedding at The State Room

Meg and Mike sprinkled their love of Boston throughout their wedding day. There were little hidden nuggets like Meg’s Boston Red Sox garter. And obvious nods like the table numbers with the city skyline. The photos took on the same theme. I loved capturing their images among the tall buildings and lovely parks of Boston. Of course, what a better spot to celebrate the Boston city skyline than the Great Room of The State Room Boston. The view is breathtaking and was the perfect backdrop for Meg and Mike’s elegant celebration.

Andrea + Gerry

Andrea and Gerry’s wedding gave us so many beautiful things to shoot! Let’s start with a gorgeous bride and groom. And let’s put their first look under a lovely, viney arborway. We’ll move to the sunlight glimmering off the tall buildings of Boston. From here, we moved inside where Andrea and Gerry chose to have a ceremony in the round. Such a unique idea that gives the couple a backdrop of loving friends and family in every direction. As if that weren’t enough, we spent some time after the ceremony photographing in the swanky spaces at the Langham Hotel. It was a photographer’s dream! Thanks so much for having us Andrea and Gerry!

Abbie + Alex’s Fabulous Boston Wedding

Abbie and Alex are one of the most fun couples I’ve ever worked with! They had a stunning wedding in the heart of Boston. We starting at the utterly cool Revere Hotel where we staged their first look on the rooftop overlooking the city. After the ceremony guests were invited to celebrate at a fabulous restaurant a few blocks away called Post 390. It was a non-traditional space, and so fun for a wedding. Guests listened to some truly heartfelt speeches and dined bistro style. Through it all Abbie and Alex just glowed. I loved watching them together!

Robin + Pat’s Harrington Farm Wedding

Spring weddings in New England can often throw curve balls! Robin and Pat had planned a beautiful ceremony on the manicured grounds of Harrington Farm but Mother Nature had other plans. Luckily, the inside of Harrington Farm is as lovely as the outside. And the foggy, misty weather made for some gorgeous filtered light during formals! I’m so glad we were able to sneak out for some of those misty pictures. The grounds were the perfect setting for Robin’s classic beauty look. Oh, and Pat looked pretty good too!

Kristina + Sean’s Oceanside Wedding at Wentworth by the Sea

Kristina and Sean’s wedding was a party from the first moment I saw them! Kristina’s smile was completely plastered on her face. We tried to do some sassy, serious images at one point…no way… she couldn’t stop smiling! And Sean was the same, except for the moment he fought back tears when Kristina walked down the aisle. The celebration started long before we reached the gorgeous Wentworth by the Sea with a rocking trolley ride. I’ll never listen to The Who again without thinking of that trolley ride. It was a fantastic day!
