Whitney and Jonathan – Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel

Whitney and Jonathan are totally my type of clients!  They have great taste and created a beautiful wedding.  But the priority that day was definitely celebrating their families, their friends and their love for each other.  I absolutely loved shooting this wedding.  The couple made their wedding day super convenient by getting ready, having the ceremony and reception right at the Renaissance Hotel in the Seaport District in Boston.  We had a first look right on the Harbor Walk and it was a gorgeous day for it.  The Seaport District is perfect for wedding photos.  With just a little bit of walking, we were able to get gorgeous photos on the waterfront, with the city background and in a lovely park.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day. Whitney was so calm and easy getting ready for her big day.  And I was in LOVE with her wedding gown.  It was fun and flirty, but totally elegant. The first look was on the Harbor Walk, a place Jonathan and Whitney spend a lot of time.  They could not hold in their emotion during their first look.  Tears sprung up in both their eyes.  Guests looking on […]

Boston Engagement Session

I love shooting in the city!  I love capturing the chemistry of a bride and a groom against the amazing architecture of the city.  I’m tickled when a couple can walk through a crowd of people and look like they’re the only two people on the street.  It’s gorgeous!  I had a fantastic time wondering around Boston taking engagement photos with this gorgeous couple.  Tamara and Chris are both graphic designers and gamers.  We had a great time combining their love of art, design, architecture, gaming and plain old goofing around!  We started on Boyleston Street and slowly made our way toward the Christian Science Center and finished at Jillians in the Fenway.  It was a blast!  Check out a few of my favorite images from this cool Boston engagement session.

Alena and Michael – Intimate Boston Wedding

I love small, intimate weddings.  I have the honor of witnessing a special moment few others are able to see.  They are so special!  I met Michael and Alena at the Omni Parker Hotel in Boston a few hours prior to their small, special wedding ceremony.  The ceremony consisted of Bride, Groom, children and parents.  Six people total.  The couple got ready at the Omni Parker Hotel and shared a ceremony and dinner at Ruth’s Chris restaurant in the Old City Hall building.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day.   We met at the Omni Parker Hotel where Michael and Alena shared a special first look in the lobby.  The lobby was packed as it was Boston Marathon Weekend.  But you would have thought Michael and Alena were the only people there.   We had about an hour to spend some time taking portraits and family photos in the city.  The Old City Hall building is such a cool building and has a great little courtyard.  And there were a bunch of fun little architectural elements to play with in the area.  I do love me a city photo shoot! After formal photos, we were […]

Alix and Daniel – Seaport Hotel, Boston

New Year’s Eve weddings are always a blast.  But I was even more excited to be shooting with my work family at Seaport Hotel and a super fun couple, Alix and Daniel.  Alix had always dreamed of a New Year’s wedding.  And this celebration didn’t disappoint!  The day started getting ready in a gorgeous suite at Seaport.  Alix and Daniel had their first look in front of their Chuppah in the Winter Garden (a lovely atrium across from the hotel).  After formal photos in front of the chuppah, Alix and Daniel signed their Ketubah (the traditional Jewish marriage contract).  After the wedding ceremony, guests continued to the Seaport World Trade Center in the beautiful Harborview Ballroom.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from their wedding day. I absolutely love Alix’s dress.  The lace was gorgeous!  Alix had her mom, sister and future sister-in-law help her get ready.  It made for a really special moment. The first look and formal photos were in the same room as their wedding ceremony.  It was nice to spend some time in the ceremony space while it was empty and quiet.  I really enjoyed getting the wedding party together for a dramatic, Vanity […]

Wedding Photography – The Best Moments of 2017

As the holiday season comes to a close and the new year is upon us, it’s a great time to reflect on the past year.  Once again, I am so honored for the opportunity to work with some amazing couples and families.  When I photograph a wedding, I like to concentrate on telling the story of the day.  Formal wedding photography will always be an important part of the day.  But I like to spend the rest of my time in the background capturing the genuine, honest moments that are unique to each wedding day.  In this spirit of that candid and documentary style, I thought it would be fun to highlight my top ten favorite wedding moments of 2017.  These moments made me laugh, cry and sigh…sometimes all at the same time.  I hope you enjoy them!   TEN Not all moments are dramatic and obvious.  Some of my favorite photos focus on the small moments that lead up to a big event.  In this case, this quite moment was right before the first look.  I was struck by the sweet anticipation as the bride descended the gorgeous staircase at The Lyman Estate, walking alone to see her groom […]

Katie and Jim – Harvest Restaurant, Cambridge

Katie and Jim’s intimate wedding at Harvest Restaurant was a fabulous day! They created a day that was perfect for their easy-going personalities.  We started getting ready at the Charles Hotel in the morning.  I was able to sneak both Katie and Jim out for a few quick photos with their wedding parties.  It was an easy walk to Harvest Restaurant where they had a lovely wedding ceremony in the outdoor courtyard.  We were able to catch the last of the fall foliage as well as the hustle and bustle of Harvard Square during family and wedding party formals.  After formals, Katie and Jim celebrated their union with an intimate group of friends and family with a delicious lunch at Harvard Restaurant.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day.   The hotel room at the Charles where Katie got ready was totally relaxed and stress free.  It was a perfect start to the day.  I love that Katie included the bracelet her dad gave to her mom on their wedding day.  It was a really special touch. Katie and Jim wanted their first look to be when she walked down the aisle.  So I took them […]

Christine and Sean – Tupper Manor, Beverly, Massachusetts

Working with Christine and Sean was a joy in so many ways.  Not only are they a fantastic couple, but they also found me through a long line of other fantastic couples!  I had two former brides and three former parents of the bride attending as guests.  It’s such a treat to see former clients and their families!  Christine and Sean had a gorgeous early fall wedding.  They each started the day getting ready at their parent’s homes.  Their traditional Catholic wedding ceremony was performed at Saint Augustine’s Church in Andover.  After the ceremony, guests headed to Tupper Manor in Beverly to celebrate.  Here are a few of my favorite images from the day.   Christine’s front yard was just perfect for her bridal portraits.  I love how the little brick path winds behind her.  It looks a bit like a fairy tale to me! The ceremony was so sweet!  Christine and Sean were just thrilled to be next to each other.  And I can’t get over the majorly adorable flower girl and ring bearer. Tupper Manor is just gorgeous inside and out.  And we took advantage of it all, from the gorgeous water fountain in the front to the […]

Katie and Paul – Lyman Estate, Waltham

I don’t think Katie and Paul realized it when they hired me, but they are totally my people!  Paul wore Millennium Falcon cuff links the day of the wedding.  AND…they have a dog named Gimli.  That’s right, they’re geek-tastick!  And those of you who know me, know the depth of my geek-dom.  Katie and Paul had a lovely wedding at the Lyman Estate.  The Lyman Estate is gorgeous, inside and out.  After a sweet first look inside the mansion, we headed out to the lawn for formal photos.  The ceremony was on the property under a gorgeous Copper Beach tree.  Guests enjoyed lawn games on the property during cocktail hour.  And the celebration continued in the tent under the light of a full moon.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the day.   Katie incorporated some lovely heirlooms into her ensemble.  Including a locket that was her grandmother’s.  Oh, and did I mention Millennium Falcon cuff links? The mansion on the Lyman Estate is gorgeous.  Just the trip to the downstairs for the first look created some great images. The navy bridesmaid’s dresses and groomsmen suits were perfect against the dark green lawn.  While the vibrant bouquets added […]

Teresa and Steven – Cambridge Marriott Hotel

I’m going back to my roots with this couple!  I photographed Teresa’s sister Linda’s wedding in 2010.  I was so excited to hear from Teresa when she got engaged!  When I walked in on the wedding day to see Linda with her three children, I knew I’d been shooting a while.  Where did the time go?!?  Teresa got ready in her childhood home which I totally remembered.  Her wedding ceremony was at the nearby Saint Anthony’s Parish.  After the ceremony, friends headed to the Cambridge Marriott Hotel for dinner and dancing.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the day.   Teresa was surrounded by family getting ready.  It was a really close bunch.  Memories of Linda’s wedding came back as I photographed Teresa’s portraits in the same spots.  I love the moment when Teresa’s dad saw her for the first time.  I’m not going to lie.  I’ve got a total crush on him! As we headed to the church, I was thrilled to see the weather clearing up.  It had been a rainy morning!  It was like the sun was coming out just for Teresa and Steven. The ceremony was just lovely.  You could tell Steven was dying […]

Adrienne and Kevin – Seaport Hotel, Boston

Well, another wedding hat trick in the books for Photography by Nikki Cole!  I was completely honored to hear that Adrienne would be the third sibling in her family who wanted me to photograph her wedding.  The Drummy family is an absolute blast and I was thrilled to be at another celebration!  We started the day getting ready at my second home, Seaport Hotel.  It felt like a reunion seeing Adrienne’s two siblings and their growing families.  The ceremony was held across the street in the gorgeous Winter Garden.  Friends and family then proceeded back to the Seaport for an amazing celebration in the Plaza Ballroom.  Here are some of my favorite images from the day.   Adrienne was just gorgeous on her wedding day!  I was totally floored to hear she had done her own makeup! The Winter Garden is one of my favorite locations to shoot a wedding ceremony.  It’s filled with gorgeous light!  Speaking of light, check out how Kevin’s face lit up with Adrienne by his side. The ceremony was full of symbolism and included a traditional hand binding ceremony.  Hand binding ceremonies are becoming quite popular!  There was also an incredibly touching moment when Adrienne […]
